Meet Maryanna Shuping, the green thumb, tallow skincare expert, and creative mind behind Curated Node.
Maryanna’s love for plants, both indoors and outdoors, was sparked by her mother, who was an active member of The Garden Club in Wilmington. Growing up in Wilmington, she ventured out after high school to pursue college and life’s adventures, eventually returning to Porters Neck four years ago with her three children. She’s also married to the most wonderful husband she could ever ask for.
In the late ‘90s, Maryanna ran a small childcare center, where she designed a natural playground using landscaping and plants to add texture and life to the children’s play area. Her passions extend beyond plants, though—Maryanna is also deeply invested in healthy skincare. She began learning about the benefits of tallow for the skin and quickly became an advocate, launching "Buoy Up!." She now handcrafts all of her skincare products using ethically sourced ingredients.
In recent years, Maryanna has fully embraced her role as a dedicated “plant mama,” caring for a diverse range of houseplants. She loves rehabilitating neglected plants, propagating them, and creating unique, decorative plant-related items to share with her customers.
Maryanna is also passionate about giving back, occasionally supporting causes like Childhood Cancer and The Alzheimer’s Association through donations.
Each plant is handpicked for its quality, vitality, and aesthetic appeal. We focus on providing a diverse range of plants that can thrive in Wilmington's climate, with a special emphasis on low-maintenance options that fit seamlessly into busy lifestyles.
Buoy Up! tallow skincare offers a wealth of benefits, making it a timeless choice for nourishing and revitalizing the skin. Derived from the fat of grass-fed cows, tallow closely resembles the natural oils found in human skin, which allows it to be easily absorbed and deeply moisturizing.
